Judicial Ruling Threatens Economic Health in South Carolina
September 5, 2008
A decision last month by the South Carolina Supreme Court threatens to make businesses in the state an even bigger target for enterprising trial attorneys.
Cam Crawford, Executive Director of the South Carolina Civil Justice Coalition says the new ruling (Colleton Prep Academy v. Hoover Universal) would allow personal injury lawyers and their plaintiffs to sue companies and recover big damage awards even if they’ve never been injured. In reaching its decision, the Court tossed aside long-standing precedent, shedding its role as an impartial arbiter of the law and assuming the power of the state’s regulatory and legislative bodies.
It doesn’t take much imagination to figure out what the impact of this ruling will be: South Carolina courts will soon be clogged with all manner of frivolous cases against every imaginable product manufacturer. Many innocent companies will be forced to the settlement table to pay off trial lawyers and their uninjured clients rather than risk a “bet-the-company” lawsuit.
Crawford says a legislative fix may be needed to reverse this legal travesty. This may stem the damage in the short-term. But one of the best solutions to an arrogant, out-of-control judiciary is to make judges more accountable to the people they are supposed to serve by replacing judicial appointments with democratic judicial elections.

You keep “shooting blanks” by neglecting to focus on, inform and educate your subscribers on the “root cause” of the legal tyranny in America’s corrupted legal profession and judiciary, exactly why that is the case, where the problem is rooted, covertly nurtured and protected from electorate scrutiny and accountability –, and what we can do to effectively and permanently fix the problem. Why haven’t we “taken the gloves off and joined hands” in our battle to clean up the legal profession and the judiciary and hold them accountable and answerable to the honest, law abiding majority electorate? That’s the first, most crucial step in combating not only legal chicanery, fleecing and fraud in the civil courts. It is also crucial if we expect to rein and imprison the well heeled societal predators, violent career criminals, drug king pins, human traffickers etc. They are “Eternal Life Golden Geese” for unscrupulous, unaccountable “self policed” attorneys. Violent, professional career criminals -, whose unlimited supply of untraceable –, untaxable blood money for attorney payola -, capitalizes on the “public blindfolding” attorney “discipline process -, and “calls the shots” in our society. They call that incestuous and mutually lucrative “silent alliance” –, “attorney/client confidentiality” and we’re letting them get away with it to the peril of our families, friends and fellow Americans as the blood in our streets illustrates –, and as the addiction rate escalates..
. We continue to tolerate “fox guard the chicken house” attorney discipline because it’s easier, expedient –, and “legally safer” to stay ignorant and “not wanna get involved”. But in case there are some of your subscribers who care enough to truly want to clean up the legal profession and the judiciary and have the courage and determination to “go to war” with enough determination to do the job” –, there is a way to do it! I am going to provide some information that will greatly enhance our chances of success via “knowing the facts, identifying the root problem” and fixing it once and for all!
Why don’t you start by profiling the rotten state of all 50 state “fox guarding the chicken house” attorney “discipline” bureaucracies that the vast majority of victims don’t even know exist much less how and where to file a formal complaint against an attorney.
