The Stakes in North Carolina

Control over North Carolina’s high court is up for grabs next Tuesday, where incumbent Justice Paul Newby faces a challenge from Judge Sam Ervin IV. And, yes, he’s the grandson of that Sam Ervin. The race is critical because the North Carolina Legislature’s redistricting map is under challenge by liberal special interest groups that want state courts to invalidate the plan.
